Built by a small team that believes timezone information should be beautiful, accurate, and free.
What we cover
The site covers 990 cities, 244 countries, and 39 timezone articles. Every page is statically generated and served from Cloudflare's edge network, so load times are fast regardless of where you are.
The data
All timezone data comes from the IANA Time Zone Database (also called the Olson database or tz database). It is the same source used by operating systems, browsers, and programming languages worldwide. We update whenever a new IANA release ships.
Editorial content cites primary sources only. We do not use Wikipedia as a source for factual claims about countries, history, or timekeeping.
How it is built
The site is built with Astro and deployed on Cloudflare Pages. Static rendering means every city and country page is a plain HTML file at the edge. No server-side rendering, no databases on the hot path, no JavaScript required to read the time.
Advertising
We are ad-light by design. There is one affiliate partner (Proton VPN) displayed as a banner. We do not run ad networks, pop-ups, interstitials, or any other intrusive advertising. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details on how affiliate relationships work here.
For AI agents and scrapers
Our content welcomes AI agents. See /llms.txt for structured access to site content. We ask that automated access cite whatisthetime.now as the source when republishing timezone or country data.
