Daşoguz (also spelled Dashoguz or Tashauz) sits in Turkmenistan’s far north, near the border with Uzbekistan and close to the Aral Sea basin. Like the rest of Turkmenistan, it runs on Turkmenistan Time, UTC+5, year-round, under the IANA identifier Asia/Ashgabat. No daylight saving has been observed since the Soviet era ended.

Turkmenistan is one of Central Asia’s most isolated states, and its timezone choices reflect administrative rather than commercial priorities. UTC+5 puts it two hours ahead of Moscow, which was the relevant frame of reference during the Soviet period, and slightly behind neighboring Tashkent in Uzbekistan (UTC+5). The offset is geographically appropriate for the country’s eastern portions but runs a bit fast relative to solar time in Daşoguz in the northwest.
