Ürümqi officially follows China Standard Time (CST/UTC+8), though local Uyghur communities often observe informal UTC+6, two hours behind Beijing.

Ürümqi sits at 43 degrees north in the heart of Central Asia, about 3,700 kilometers from China’s eastern coast. It is one of the most inland cities on Earth, and the geographic distance from Beijing’s longitude is enormous: roughly 35 degrees of longitude, equivalent to more than two hours of solar time.
